The short answer

Veranda cost in 2026 is roughly between €3,500 and €9,000 for a veranda of about 3 by 4 metres, including fitting and VAT. Aluminium with polycarbonate roof panels sits at the lower end, timber or aluminium with a glass roof higher. With glass sliding walls, lighting or heating you quickly reach €8,000 to €15,000 or more. These amounts are indications. The ground, the connection to the facade and the finish make the difference, and they belong in a tailored quote.

What drives veranda cost the most?

Size and material are the basis. A veranda is often priced per metre of width and depth, and a deeper veranda needs heavier beams. Then comes the roofing. Polycarbonate is light and affordable. Laminated safety glass is more expensive and heavier, but gives more light and a calmer look. With timber, the type of wood and the maintenance also count.

  • Width, depth and number of posts
  • Aluminium or timber, and the colour of the profiles
  • Roof of polycarbonate or glass
  • Pad foundations or footings under the posts
  • Options: sliding walls, side wall, lighting

What is and is not included in a veranda price?

A brochure price often covers only the veranda itself. Setting pad foundations, fixing to the facade with a wall profile, draining rainwater and adjusting the paving are then not always included. Ask about this explicitly. A veranda on solid ground stays straight and watertight for years.

Also look at the facade you are building against. Is there a solid wall at the right height, or is an extra beam or fixing needed? That item should be visible in advance.

Do you need a permit for a veranda?

A veranda at the back of the house is often permit-free if it stands in the rear garden area and stays within the rules on size and height. At the front or side, for a listed building or if your municipality's environmental plan says otherwise, an environmental permit (omgevingsvergunning) may be required. Always check via the Omgevingsloket. You will find more explanation in permit-free building.

A veranda or more: when do you choose a conservatory or extension?

A veranda is a canopy, open or with glass walls, but not insulated. If you also want to use the space in winter, you end up with a conservatory or an extension, at a very different price. We build verandas and conservatories in uPVC and traditional styles; our page on verandas and conservatories shows how we work. After a no-obligation conversation you receive a tailored quote.

Frequently asked questions

What does a 3 by 3 metre veranda cost?

For an aluminium veranda of 3 by 3 metres with a polycarbonate roof, you can roughly expect €3,000 to €5,500 including fitting and VAT. With a glass roof or in timber, the price is higher. Glass sliding walls come on top of that.

Is a glass roof worth the extra cost?

Glass gives clearer light, is quieter in the rain and does not discolour. It is heavier and more expensive, though, and needs a sturdier structure. People who use the veranda a lot as an outdoor room often choose glass.

How long does fitting a veranda take?

The assembly itself usually takes one to a few days. Before that come measuring, the delivery time of the profiles and possibly placing pad foundations. For bespoke timber work, the preparation often takes longer.
