A little wood rot in the corner of a frame or a loose fascia board is a small repair now, but can become a big job in a few years. Bouwbedrijf R. Not every job is a full renovation. A door that sticks, a leaking gutter or a rotten sill deserves an expert approach just as much. For a repair like that, we also prepare a quote and send someone who knows what he is doing. Start with a walk around the house. Look at the frames, the paintwork, the pointing, the gutters and the roof edge. Small cracks in paint and sealant are often where water gets in. Ideally do this in spring and after autumn.

For a national or municipal listed building, many interventions require an environmental permit (omgevingsvergunning), including work that would be permit-free on an ordinary home. So consult the municipality before work begins.

Maintenance keeps the home in good condition. A renovation renews parts of the home to today's standards. Restoration, by contrast, repairs the original, with respect for shape and material.
An annual check of the facade, roof and frames is sensible. Exterior paintwork is usually due every few years, depending on the location and the type of paint. Repairing small defects straight away saves a lot.
Often, yes. With limited damage, the rotten wood is removed and filled, or only the affected part is replaced. If the rot runs deep into several parts, a new frame is often the wiser choice.
